ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION FROM INCEPTION ON 27TH NOVEMBER, 2022 TILL DATE.

Some of the achievements of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry since inception of the current administration till date include but are not limited to:

SKILLS UPGRADE AND ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING PROGRAMME.

The Ministry conducted this 1st Quarter programme from 6th March, 2023 to 25th March, 2023. The programme which was last held in year 2020 is designed to provide vocational and entrepreneurial skills for interested citizens of the State. The beneficiaries were trained in various Skills Areas which includes, Fashion Design, Catering, Paint Production, Soap and Chemicals, Beads Making, Hairdressing, Makeup/Gele, Shoe Making, Bag Making among others. 1,200 citizens of the State benefitted from the programme and they were given Entrepreneurial lectures by our development partners, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
Conduct of Graduation Ceremony for participants of the 1st Quarter Skills Upgrade and Entrepreneurial Development Training programme took place on 25th April, 2023 after the successful completion of the 1st Quarter Skills Upgrade and Entrepreneurial programme. 1,200 successfully trained beneficiaries were given Seed loans of Fifty Thousand Naira (N50.000) each by our development partner, the Bank of Industry (BOI).
The ministry also conducted another batch of the programme in December, 2024.

THE OF NEW INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT POLICY FOR OSUN STATE.

Osun State Governor Senator (Dr.) Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has reiterated his commitment to industrialize the State for economic prosperity.The Governor stated this at the official launch of the New Sustainable Industrial policy on Thursday July 13, 2023.This policy document would also create direct and indirect jobs and is expected to enhance Industrial development and commercial activities in the State.

ESTABLISHMENT OF SPECIAL AGRO PROCESSING ZONE AT ERIN-OSUN.

Since assumption of office, His Excellency Senator (Dr.) Ademola Adeleke, said his administration his committed to industrialize the State for economic prosperity as the state is set to empower citizens through special agro- processing centre. The State government through the Federal Government of Nigeria has established a Special Agro Processing Zone at Erin Osun. The Governor who spoke through the Commissioner disclosed that the people of Osun will soon enjoy the special agro-processing centre set up to encourage micro industries to thrive in the state.
The special agro-processing centre will assist Nano and micro industries, as part of the efforts of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke to create an enabling environment for all categories of business to thrive in the state.
The common facility Centre, facilitated by the Federal Government with about 6 plots of land was donated by the Erin-Osun community.According to the Commissioner “the Federal Government will soon provide automated Garri-processing equipment to the centre for the use of interested citizens”.
The Common Facility Centre which is created to nurture Nano and Micro industries is expected to accommodate about twenty garri processors at the inception.

ESTABLISHMENT OF OSUN SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE AT OTA GERE,EDE

The Federal Government of Nigeria collaborated with the State Government to establish a Special Economic Zone at Ota-Gere, Ede. The Project is sited on 200 hectares of land and this will spur economic activities in the State. Construction of Gate House has started in the zone. Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has stated that the Osun Special Economic Zone (SEZ) when fully completed, will boost the economy and industrial growth of the State.
The Special Economic Zone which sits on 200 hectares parcel of land located at Otagere, Ede will provide enabling environment for investments to thrive.
This was disclosed by the State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Dr. Bunmi Jenyo during an official site visit to the Zone to inspect the level of work done on the site. He said the project when completed, industrial and business plots will be provided for investors in the Zone for development and operations of their various businesses. He expressed deep satisfaction on the construction of Gate House and Perimeter Fencing ongoing at the site.

RESUSCITATION OF LIVING SPRING FREE TRADE ZONE,EDE

The Governor of Osun State, Senator (Dr.) Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to resuscitate its moribund Free Trade Zone, Abere for economic development and growth of industries in the State.
This is one out of many efforts of the current administration to industrialise Osun State. e on deck to ensure that the initiative of Governor Adeleke’s administration to industrialize the State and reposition it for economic greatness is realized.
In view of the above , His Excellency has given approval to the Ministry to go ahead with construction of the Entry and Exit gate of the Free Trade Zone and completion of the Administrative block in the Zone. Construction Works have started on the Gate and Gate House within the zone.
As a fall out of the 2024 Industrial Investment summit, several investors have indicated interest to establish industries in the zone and the Governor has already approved the allocation of industrial plots to the investors. Work is ongoing on their Memorandum of Understanding after which the projects are expected to take off.

CONDITIONAL GRANTS FOR NANO BUSINESSES.

As part of his efforts to make life easier for the people of Osun State, His Excellency Governor Ademola Adeleke approved that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry select qualified beneficiaries for the N50,000 conditional grants for NANO businesses in Osun State which was facilitated by the Federal Government and the Nigeria Governors Forum.
To this end, 30,000 qualified people of the State benefitted from the programme and collected N50,000 grants for their businesses.

OSUN STATE TRADE FAIR 2023-2025

The Osun State governor Sen. (Dr.) Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has said his administration is passionate about changing the narrative of the state from a civil service economy to a thriving industrial hub. The governor who was represented by the deputy governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, said Osun becoming an industrial hub will make the state open to countless opportunities and will help the economy to improve. The governor in his words said ‘we are welcoming investors from other states and countries who are well prepared and ready to establish their business in our state for improved activities and better utilization of resources to bring about a robust and more profitable economy”

INAUGURATION OF DAGBOLU INTERNATIONAL TRADE CENTRE TRUSTEES

As part of the commitment of Governor, Sen. (Dr.) Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke to transform the economic narrative of the State. The Governor inaugurated Trustees for the International Trade Centre in Dagbolu to see to the smooth running and development of the International Trade Centre and Dagbolu Community as a whole. Speaking at the inauguration, Rev. Jenyo who represented the Governor reiterated the Adeleke-led administration’s readiness to take the economy of the state to another level of greatness, urged the Trustees to work round the clock to ensure things turn out well for the people’s economic prosperity through the International Trade Centre, Dagbolu.

ENGAGEMENT OF NEW DEVELOPER.

In a bid to drive the economy of the state and boost its internally generated revenue, two new private developers were engaged.
Demlab Technical Services, a private Developer, has been engaged to re-design and reconstruct the Hotel and Mall on PPP arrangement at Ayegbaju International Market to further revitalize the moribund market and boost the internally generated revenue of the state.
ii. Temporary engagement of a developer, A1 Pinnacle for the establishment and management of a lounge and Sports/ Game Centre at Alekuwodo Axis of the Freedom Park, Osogbo in July, 2023.

MARKET COORDINATION

Market Women in Osun State have been charged to renew the bond of love, unity and kindred spirit among one another.
The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Revd. Dr. Bunmi Jenyo gave this charge during a sensitization programme organized for market women across all local governments in the State held at Staff Development Center, Abere. Rev. Jenyo explained that market women are important to the state’s economy, thus Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has put in place necessary measures to transform commercial activities and create enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
The Commissioner stressed that “no development without peaceful coexistence, in achieving this goal, there should be effective communication and mutual understanding among market women and men, for the development of Osun State.

IMOLE FREE TRAIN RIDE

The State Government has provided Imole Free Train Transportation to interested members of public during festive periods. Imole Free Train Service is designed to offer relief to citizens of the State in Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo States to celebrate with their loved ones. This administration provides Imole Free Train Service during EASTER, Eid-el-Fitri, Eid-Kabir (Ileya), Christmas and New Year celebrations for Osun State citizens and more than 8000 people have benefited from the service.

MEETING WITH OSUN STATE MARKET ASSOCIATION

Town hall meeting with Osun state market Association (Egbe Olowos) to sensitize them in adopting Osunwon Imole in all the markets across all the local Governments in Osun state.
The meeting was held to put an end to the influx of sub-standard measuring Congo in all markets in Osun State on July 29, 2024.

OSUN INDUSTRIAL INVESTMENT SUMMIT 2024

The Osun State Government under the leadership of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke held an Industrial Investment Summit between 10th and 14th September, 2024 at Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola Multipurpose Hall, Osun State University, Oke-Baale, Osogbo with the theme ‘Connecting progress with purpose.The Osun State Investment Summit 2024 was packaged to showcase bankable opportunities and strategic, matchmaking platforms, convening stakeholders to Osun
Industrial ecosystem to facilitate partnerships and investments in the State. The summit focused on driving double-digit industrial investment and economic growth across every nook and cranny of Osun State.

GOVERNOR ADELEKE INAUGURATES ORGANISED PRIVATE SECTOR (OPS) OF NIGERIA IN OSUN.

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Sen, (Dr.) Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has on Wednesday inaugurated the Organised Private Sector (OPS) of Nigeria, Osun State Chapter.

At the inauguration ceremony held at Aje International Market, the Governor was represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Dr. Bunmi Jenyo.The Organised Private Sector is an umbrella body of Business membership Organization, representing the interest of the private sector in the nooks and crannies of Osun State; while inaugurating the OPS, Rev. Jenyo who reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Adeleke’s administration to transform the economic narrative of Osun State, said,the time is ripe for people’s well- being to be activated.

OSUN INDUSTRIAL INVESTMENT ROUNDTABLE 2025

This roundtable was organised to consolidate the gains of the 2024 Industrial Investment Summit, which a crucial step in our journey to transform Osun State from a civil service-driven economy to an industrialised powerhouse.
The event offered further opportunity to map the future of our industrial and economic landscapes with renewed vigour in order to further explore business opportunities that abound in the State and forge investment partnership in various sectors of Osun State.
